The Student Activities Association consists of the Special Events, Entertainment and Pageants committees.

Special Events

The Special Events aspect of the Student Activities Association is responsible for a wide array of activities throughout the school year. This area hosts events such as Welcome Week and Homecoming Week in the fall, the Ole Miss Movie Series, and A Grand Ole Christmas. Special Events also oversees the annual Ole Miss Idol competition held in the Spring. The Student Activities Association also sponsors the annual Christmas tree lighting of the University Christmas Tree.

Entertainment

Have you ever gotten bored during your lunch break or been curious about a new band in town? Local acts and bands playing in town are showcased on the Union Plaza during the noon lunch hour on Tuesdays or Thursdays. It is a great way to check out a band for free while you enjoy your lunch.

Pageants

The Student Activities Association sponsors two pageants each school year, the Parade of Beauties and Miss University. The Parade of Beauties is the annual beauty review hosted each spring in the Ford Center for the Performing Arts. The winner holds the title of Most Beautiful.

Miss University is a preliminary pageant for the Miss Mississippi and Miss America pageants. Each contestant competes in the areas of interview, talent, swim wear, and evening gown. The winner represents the university at the Miss Mississippi Pageant which is held in the summer.
